June was a busy month for South Florida restaurants.

Who are we kidding? It seems like every month is a busy month when it comes to the restaurant industry in Broward and Palm Beach counties — especially when it comes to new restaurant openings (and some old favorites closing).

While a rash of new eateries swept both counties last month — including the highly-anticipated reopening of Blue Willy's Barbecue and SwitchBox Coffee Roasters in Oakland Park — there's still more to come. That includes Lost Weekend and the Regional in West Palm Beach; B-Square Burgers & Booze and Bar Rita in Fort Lauderdale; and new breweries Driftwood Ales (Boynton Beach) and Odd Breed Wild Ales (Pompano Beach).

Old haunts opening new locations? That's happening too. There's a second location in the works for Delray Beach-based Beer Trade Co., which just announced it will be opening the same craft-beer-focused concept in the former Sonny's Gelato space off Federal Highway in Boca Raton. People are also talking about the Riverside Market, which is planning a third location in Plantation. And Fort Lauderdale-based juice and smoothie shop Myapapaya is also looking to open a second store in west Broward County.

Closings included longtime West Palm Beach establishment Palm Beach Ale House and Max's Social House in Delray Beach, which bid farewell June 26, joining the ranks of restaurants to come and go in the same spot.
