Watch Out for DUI Checkpoint in Central Broward Over the Fourth of July Weekend

Last week, Americans flocked to social media to comment on how stupid it was for Britain to revolt and separate from the European Union. Now, um, it's time for us to fire up our grills, drink heavily, and celebrate our withdrawal from the mother country.

But heads up!

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is planning a DUI checkpoint in central Broward Friday night and early Saturday morning. You should never drink and drive. Now that Uber’s back, there’s really no excuse. But we understand why it doesn’t hurt to know where a bunch of cops are going to be stationed as you kick off your three-day weekend.

The checkpoint is set for 900 NW 31st Ave. in unincorporated Broward County, near Fort Lauderdale. BSO’s DUI Task Force and district personnel, along with other agencies and municipalities, are all going to be there.

It’s scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Friday, July 1, and last until 2 a.m. Saturday, July 2.
July 4 is the deadliest day on the road. The purpose of this DUI checkpoint, of course, is to keep drunk drivers off the streets. So if you’re planning on leaving your house this weekend, make sure you have all your vehicle documents and designated drivers in order.
