Everyone knows the importance of a good education, and unless you want to grow up to be Bill or Ted without the excellent adventures, reading is superimportant. It's the first step in critical thinking, understanding, and growing up to read great works of literature like Twilight or Fifty Shades of Grey. (Kidding, kidding.) But reading is crucial to the development of young minds, and those who don't read can end up two grades behind their reading peers by the sixth grade.
All of that is why the Broward Public Library Foundation is raising funds to support programs that encourage kids to read over the summer. Beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at Hott Leggz sports bar, the library has set up an event for guests to come and donate $10. Those who do will enjoy live music, a great atmosphere, and a drink on the house. There will also be a raffle for prizes.
For more information, visit facebook.com/bplfoundation. Hott Leggz is located at 2471 E. Commercial Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Event starts at 6:30 p.m. Donations are encouraged.
