Oh those young professionals, always out and about, socializing, networking, rubbing elbows. They might on occasion seem like a profligate lot — aimlessly wasting their time on shallow, empty social engagements. You are so, so wrong. The Young Professionals for Covenant House socialize in the name of philanthropy. The proceeds from their events benefit the Covenant House Florida, a crisis center for homeless teens and young adults. On Tuesday, they will gather in the Beach Place courtyard (17 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) at 6:30 p.m. for their 13th-annual Mardi Gras Bash. There will be live music, more than 1,000 pounds of crawfish, and drinking Fat Tuesday-style. Admission is $10 for members and $15 for guests. If you’d like to join the Young Professionals and be part of all of their many philanthropic engagements, $25 is their one-year membership fee — it will also get you admission to the Mardi Gras Bash.
