Step aside, iPhone and new underwear. The gift you really want this Christmas is a tasty, Christmas-themed cocktail.
Well, we’re all in luck, as some one-of-a-kind concoctions are coming our way and are totally acceptable to self-gift. The wildly popular Miracle pop-up bar is back for another year, opening on Friday at Death or Glory in Delray Beach and at a new location this year, CityPlace in West Palm Beach.
The Miracle pop-up concept began in New York City in 2014 and now has more than 80 locations throughout the world, including locations in Mexico, England, and New Zealand.
“We see a lot of transplants from up north that don’t get to see a Christmas tree or old house too often down here,” said Death or Glory partner Annie Blake about her restaurant’s décor for Miracle. “So, we really did it up, with Santa on the roof, garlands everywhere and a lot of childhood nostalgia. It’s over the top and it’s perfect.”
In addition to dazzling décor, the Miracle experience is all about the beverages. Local faves from last year that are making a return, according to Blake, include the Christmopolitan (vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime, and absinthe mist) and the Snowball Old Fashioned (gingerbread bourbon, wormwood bitters, lemon zest).
In total, more than ten drinks comprise the Miracle menu, also including a Jingle Balls Nog (cognac, Pedro Ximenez Sherry, brown butter, cinnamon, cherry, vanilla, almond milk, cream, sugar, egg and nutmeg) and the hot-served Bad Santa (apple cider, Applejack, Manzanilla Sherry, lemon, cinnamon syrup, popcorn and bacon butter and baked apple bitters).
“More important than anything, it’s a great way for our community to get together and do something fun,” said Blake. “And while the names of some of these drinks may be funny, we all take the execution very seriously.”
Miracle. Friday, November 23 through Monday, December 31 at Death or Glory (116 NE Sixth Ave., Delray Beach) and at CityPlace (550 S. Rosemary Ave. #158, West Palm Beach); miraclepopup.com.
