You’ve done the whole pub crawl thing, but as
you get older, stumbling around drunk doesn’t
sound quite as appealing as it did when you
were 21 — that, and internet photos get around
quickly. Still, it’s nice to hit up a bunch of places
in one excursion. You could wander aimlessly
on your own or let the professionals plan it.
Every Saturday at noon, Fort Lauderdale
Food Tours (by the same folks behind Miami
Culinary Tours) hosts Taste of Las Olas. The
journey features a guided historical and cultural
lesson of Fort Lauderdale’s most famous
street. The two-and-a-half-mile tour stops at
several local eateries, including EVOO Market,
Bao Las Olas, Gran Forno, Johnny V, and the
Cheese Culture. In terms of portion, it’s equivalent
to a nice, progressive lunch. The trek is
about a half-mile, so comfortable shoes are suggested.
It doesn’t cater to vegan or gluten-free
diets, but the restaurants can make accommodations
for vegetarians and those who abstain
from chicken, beef, or seafood. The exact
starting point is disclosed when you reserve a
spot. Tickets cost $79 per adult, with a $10 option
for wine pairings, and $49 for kids over 14.
