You may have heard of this amazing 21st-century invention commonly called the "Groupon." Basically, you sign up by e-mail to one of these companies -- Groupon, Living Social, Deal of the Day, etc.-- and each day you will get an e-mail about a different special. A different company is featured each day, offering a very steep discount -- usually 50% off or more -- on a certain product.

Apparently, this is supposed to save you money, but

I for one can vouch that I buy things like crazy on here because the

deals are too ding-dangled good to resist and I'll use them eventually,

right? I mean, I have gotten a haircut with color and blowdry (usually

this costs me $150 or upward) for just $65; paddleboarding sessions for

two for like $20, and a professional photo shoot for a baby for just 29

beans.

Alas, I am now broke and must keep my wallet shut for today's deal on Living Social,

but I thought I'd share it with y'all since it could make a great

holiday gift for that foodie on your list.  It's a 2 1/2 hour cooking

class and meal at Lenore Nolan-Ryan Cooking School

& Catering Company in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.Today only, it's $22

(usually $45), or for two people, it's $45 (usually $90).  Judging from

the class list -- "sexy Asian appetizers and cocktails" or "I love

lamb!" there is a tantalizing class on there for everyone.
