Need a fry fix? Get 'em free, in a grand-opening offer, at the new Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries in Boca Raton - a Maryland chain dropping into Florida.

What started as a french fry chain (Boardwalk Fries) became in 2007 Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries, a chain with six other units in a handful of Eastern Seaboard states.

Irene Jung, entrepreneur, brought them down here and plans 49 more in the state, starting at the Shops of Boca and moving into Orlando next year.

Burgers are hand-formed 4-ounce patties, with a variety of topping choices ($3.59 starting price). Hand-cut fries ($2.39) are said to be "fried numerous times at various temperatures" in 100 percent peanut oil. Other items on the menu: a black bean veggie burger, grilled chicken sandwiches and wraps, all-beef hot dogs and made-to-order sandwiches. Sips include shakes, beer and wine.

The fries got their start on the Ocean City, Md., boardwalk, where diners there sprinkle on Old Bay seasoning and squirt them with vinegar.

A free order of fries is offered to every diner today - no other purchase necessary. They're open daily, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
