If you're the type to start enjoying the weekend on Thursday, well, more power to ya, as there are a few fun things about town this evening including the Celebrity Shake Up! fundraiser at Morton's, the Steakhouse; the newly minted Arts, Beats & Eats festival in Delray Beach and the Food Truck Rally/Movie Night at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
To see what else is on tap for the weekend, read on after the jump:
Friday:
Burger Fridays -- If you've not yet had a chance to cash in your paycheck, the end-of-the-week lunch and happy hour combo at Racks Downtown Eatery and Tavern in Boca Raton might be up your alley. Given Racks' Mizner Park location, this is an especially good option if you're hoping to chat up someone new who might be willing to pick up your tab. Burgers are $5 (toppings are extra and you must buy a beverage) from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Happy hour is 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and features two-for-one drinks and house liquors.
Sushi & Stroll -- Provided the weather holds out, this budget-friendly event at Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens is a fairly chill way to shake off the week's deadlines and office ennui. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for kids ages 4 to 17. Munch on Asian cuisine from the Cornell Cafe and wash it down with sake or wine (or soda) before you set off to check out the gardens. Word to the wise: bring bug spray. For an additional $2, catch a taiko drumming performance at 6:30 or 7:30 p.m.; seating is limited.
Saturday:
The Blind Monk's 1st Birthday Celebration -- If you're the sort who enjoys a good b-day celebration sans the obligation of having to buy some freeloader a gift simply because they survived another year in this mortal coil, hit the one-year commemoration at Blind Monk in West Palm Beach from 6 p.m. to midnight - no gifts necessary. The menu for the evening will feature "grown-up" takes on kiddie favorites like mac'n'cheese and peanut butter and jelly, plus sangria snowcones and beer and wine specials. Games, raffles and prizes throughout the evening - b-day hats provided. R.S.V.P. at the The Blind Monk Facebook page.
Miami Food Trucks Pre-Show Celebration -- You don't need tickets to the Allison Krauss show at Broward Center for the Performing Arts to crash the pre-concert food truck rally in Esplanade Park from 3 to 7 p.m. Bring cash and grab treats from the usual suspects like Big Kahuna, The Fish Box, Latin House Grill, Ms. Cheezious and Slow Food Truck, among others.
Sunday:
Sunday Party for the Animals -- If you're fortunate enough to have one of those animal friends whose behavior wouldn't get you banned from a public establishment -- i.e. not a cat -- you can bring him or her to hang with you on the patio from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Living Room in Boynton Beach. Drink and food specials available. Tickets are $5 if you get 'em by 5 p.m. Friday or $10 (cash only) at the door. Part of the proceeds go to National Canine Cancer Foundation.
