Whole Foods Market in Pembroke Pines has been open less than two months, but it's already embedded itself into the community.

The purveyors of clean foods (and the best cheap wine this side of Trader Joe's

Two-Buck Chuck) is throwing a Memorial Day-themed block party on

Saturday, May 26, just in time to coincide with holiday barbecue

shopping.

The event will feature free tastings, entertainment, and a friendly

little interdepartmental cooking competition.

Starting at noon, teams

from different areas in the store (meat, produce, bakery, seafood), will

be tasked with preparing a dish featuring ingredients from their

department.  Guests will be invited to taste each creation and vote for

their favorite.

Each vote is also an entry to win a $50 Whole Foods

Market gift card. The winning dish will receive the coveted Golden

Spatula award!

The event is free and runs from noon - 2 p.m.
