But no. Thankfully, every year Delray Beach rights that wrong and hosts the three-day Garlic Fest. This year, it's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 11 to 13, at Old School Square.

Known as the best stinkin' party in town,

this year you'll be neck-deep in garlic recipes -- restaurants like Le Bistro in Lighthouse Point and Deck 84 in Delray are participating in contests and cook-offs.

Musical headliners this year include Dark Star Orchestra on Friday night (garlic bulbs make great hackey sacks!), Buddy Guy on Saturday night, and Zep tributers Led Hed on Sunday.

Carb counters, beware. With all the garlic bread abounding, you may want to put Dr. Atkins on hold for a few days.
