Later this month, the first U.S. outpost of Paris' popular Caviar Kaspia will open at the Webster in Miami Beach. The original Kaspia was established in 1927 and over the decades has become an institution in Parisian society. The Webster branch promises to have "the same menu as its Paris counterpart but with a tropical twist." The tropical twist part has us a little nervous, but we like the sound of "rare assortment of smoked fish, wild salmon, lobster medallions and duck foie gras, as well as a variety of caviars including Beluga, Ossetra, Sevruga, Baccari, etc." Signature dishes include Eggs Benedict with caviar, and "Kaspia Babas with vodka on a raspberry bed".
The restaurant isn't completed yet, but its design is being described as "elegant and modern," with a marble fireplace and travertine bar. Lots of vodka will of course get poured, including one bottled especially for the Webster Kaspia.
Caviar Kaspia is located at 1220 Collins Ave. on South Beach (305-674-7899). The 65-seater will be open for lunch and dinner daily.
