Evidently I'm not the only one fantasizing about Stone Crab claws the size of baseball mitts. Slow Food Miami, in conjunction with Friends of the Everglades, is planning an event Saturday January 31st that ought to help sate your desire, at least temporarily, for things that scuttle sideways: The Stone Crab Eat In. Judy the Stone Crab Lady from Everglades City is going to be bringing fresh bushels of crabs to the Coral Gables Greenmarket, and from 10:30 to 1:30, for a a highly reasonable price of $22, you can dine on a pound of claws plus vegetarian empanadas, winter vegetable cole slaw, and homemade plantain and yucca chips and cheese herb scones courtesy of Mise en Place. Judy will also be selling the claws in one-pound packages ($10)  if you're inclined to take them home to pick apart at your leisure. It's BYOB: Bring your own Bib (or booze). You MUST buy tix in advance.
