If one were to go by the restaurant offerings this weekend, one would believe that moms and brunch are inextricably locked together in some kind of culinary tradition that forever ties motherhood to mimosas and Belgian waffles. There's no arguing that brunch is a great way to show Mom that you care, but not every mom wants to eat pancakes on her special day.

For those who want options that aren't in the traditional brunch route, we've gathered a few nonbrunch Mother's Day meals in Broward and Palm Beach counties. (If you do want to go with brunch, find a list of Broward County restaurants here and a list of Palm Beach County restaurants here.) As with brunch, reservations are highly recommended for any of these meals.

-- China Grill, 1881 SE 17th St. Causeway, Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-759-9950.

China Grill will offer dinner seatings from 6 to 10 p.m. Specials include dishes like a crunchy tuna roll, surf and turf, and lemon-scented angel food cake.

-- Grease Burger Bar, 213 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. Call 561-651-1075.

Moms who dine in with their kids get a free mother burger, made with meat loaf, provolone cheese, barbecue sauce, and Bermuda onion.

-- Kapow! Noodle Bar, 431 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. Call 561-347-7322.

Limited seatings available for a special Mother's Day dinner that will in no way involve brunch. Expect Kapow's trademark creative take on traditional Asian fare.

-- RA Sushi, 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Ave., Palm Beach Gardens. Call 561-340-2112.

Customers are invited to celebrate with or without mom, and happy-hour specials will be offered from 11 a.m. to close in honor of the holiday.
