"Tha Black God" is a trippy ass rap song. It makes you feel like you're wading through a hallway that's been hotboxed for days, exiting the smoke in slow motion, you think you understand all of the world, and the world gets you. Though SGP calls himself God in the song, and let's be honest, this offends the inner Catholic child, he's got his own lexicon and uses illuminati-influenced symbolism in his lyrics, so that it's more riddle than literal.
Raised in Carol City, the young rapper found national fame through a DJ set spun by Odd Future's Syd Tha Kid in Los Angeles. Either way, we, South Florida, are taking notice -- and for the record, personally have noticed for quite some time. His album Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp is being released on June 12 and consists of old and new material. He's also leaving for a mini-tour of New York and Europe on which he will, on some dates, support Mac Miller. Watch the video, read the dates, get read for more Purrp.
