Canadian act Comeback Kid has lasted so long -- marking a full decade this year -- that they've managed to last until a renewed scene interest in more pure hardcore sounds. The quartet, despite forming at a time when post-hardcore was in its trendy infancy, was never interested in softening up for any kind of scream-singing dynamic.

Instead, the Canadian act has always specialized in an unapologetically

tough, loud, speedy sound built around scream-along choruses, occasional

breakdowns, and no b.s.

The group recently lost a longtime member,

guitarist Casey Hjelmberg, but this is par for the course for most

long-running hardcore acts. For this tour, they've got a fill-in from Misery Signals, and perhaps some new material -- it's been two years since the group's last full-length, Symptoms + Cures, though they are still touring behind it.

It's just as well, because Symptoms + Cures is as good a distillation as any of the Comeback Kid sound to date. Breakout fan favorite "G.M. Vincent & I" is a relentless slab with a repetitive chorus meant for crowd fist-pumping and mic props, along with gang vocals for the chorus and a fast, furious punk tempo to carry the whole thing through.

The rest of the record proceeds pretty similarly, but if you're hungry for some no-frills hardcore, this satisfies. Stream a few of the tracks below in advance of the band's show on Thursday, March 22 at the Speakeasy. Proof that this is certainly, uh, all-ages friendly: The show starts at a crazy 5 p.m., which handily meets curfews as well as fits in the massive multi-band bill.

Comeback Kid. With Close Your Eyes, Foundation, Such Gold, Living with Lions, and Sleep Patterns. 5 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the Speakeasy Lounge, 129 N. Federal Hwy., Lake Worth. Admission is $12 in advance, $14 at the door; all ages. Click here and visit kapiro.com/events/7436
