Whip out those old black nerd glasses. Oh, wait, you're still wearing them... Well, keep wearing those Buddy Holly frames, even if it's only ironically, because alt-rock heroes Weezer are returning to South Florida to perform at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on Thursday, November 8. Following the success of their Weezer Cruise, which departed from Miami in January, the boys are back with both the great tunes of yesteryear and the controversial ones of now. For plenty of fans who couldn't or didn't feel like dropping 800-plus bucks back then, this is some seriously awesome news. The Blue Album blast-worthy news.
Although Weezer is no longer the post-Pinkerton band that sang the soundtrack to our teenaged years, it still has managed to mature with a certain level of grace. If nothing else, Rivers Cuomo is bringing out the classics: The recent set lists have a "greatest hits" edge to them, while still offering enough rarities to remind you of the depth and quality of the band's back catalog.
On that note, here's a live video of Weezer at its shredding best.
There was a sneaky presale yesterday, but general ticket sales began today at noon.
