The Postelles are another coolly dressed, young and good-looking New York four-piece getting a lot of buzz in all those blogs and magazines that "matter." That makes them sound kind of douchey, but actually their music is eminently likable. The band overall has a kind of vibe similar to the Virgins -- more young, stylish New Yorkers playing rock and roll -- with songs about the sort of gutter-glamour that is the downtown NYC lifestyle. The lyrics of the song, below, deal with the anxiety that comes after a "white night" -- if you need a more explicit explanation of that, don't worry about it.

And Club 50 at the Viceroy, where the Postelles play tonight, is definitely not the typical local venue for an indie rock show. It's the kind of louche, in-your-face move I can imagine the Virgins making. But, okay, the Postelles don't really sound like the Virgins; all those comparisons I've just made are superficial at best. The Postelles, rather, play a way more stripped-down rock (none of that Virgin-al punk-funk flair) that is poppy and simple, but just rough enough around the edges. It's not entirely unlike Japanese Motors (but without all those West Coasters' surf-y touches), or maybe the Cribs (also not from New York). Anyways, its' easily digested, so chew and swallow the MP3 below.

Oh yes, and although Club 50 is Miami Brickell-y swank to the max, this show is free, most importantly with free booze courtesy of Jose Cuervo Platino from 8 to 10 p.m. This is an open call for the great unwashed masses to invade the place tonight. Um, you were supposed to RSVP by yesterday, apparently, but if you're used to Miami-style freeloading, you should be able to talk your away past that requirement.

The Postelles. Friday, September 26. Club 50 at the Viceroy, 485 Brickell Ave., Miami. Event starts at 8 p.m. 305-503-4400; viceroymiami.com/cuisine/club.html
