Snoop Dogg is straight up the smoothest motherfucker in the business. Pardon the French, but there's just no description more fitting. The Dogfather can pretty much take credit for defining what rappers and hip hoppers across the board tout these days as their swagger, and it's doubtful anyone would dispute that.
Since exploding onto the scene with his breakout feature on Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' But a G Thang," and his groundbreaking debut record Doggystyle, Snoop has consistently put out one chart-topper after another for close to twenty years, selling over 30 million copies worldwide and "shitting hits," as he puts it.
And he's still at it, showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Snoop finds himself in the midst of a summer tour that'll feature a SoFla stop on August 1, and drops a new record titled Malice in Wonderland later this year.
New Times: You're in the middle of a summer tour now. What can fans expect to see?
Good
music. You can't deny a great product and that's what I do - I shit out
hits....ya dig?!? Fans know they gonna get tha best outta Snoop Dogg
and imma make sure that they don't walk outta there disappointed....we
made sure that fans were gonna make sure and have the party of 2009 -
it's not an easy thing to do so you gotta make sure that the recipe is
right....
You've been in the business for 17 years, dropped 9
records and sold over 30 million copies around the world. How do you
manage to keep it fresh?
I'm Snooperman....I go in tha booth
and get it done. The day that I can't get it done in tha booth is tha
day that it is time to retire.....I can't see that happenin' no time
soon....
So what's next on Snooperman's agenda?
Be on da lookout for Malice In Wonderland droppin' fourth quarter 2009 in a hood near you....
On
top of your success in music, you're a personality on screen, an
impresario and a philanthropist, among so other things. What are you
most proud of?
Tha Snoop Youth Football League - over 3000
kids in Southern Cali and we only gettin' bigger and better. It's tha
most rewardin to see that happen and seein tha faces on those kids
every week.
What's one thing you've yet to accomplish that you want to?

still tryin to win my Super Bowl Ring with Tha Steelers, Big Ben, and
Coach Tomlin - we gonna do it again this year - holla atcha boy!!!
