A shootout erupted at an Oakland Park Days Inn hotel Wednesday morning.
A Broward Sheriff's deputy as well a hotel guest were shot.
The suspect was shot and killed by police.
The deputy and civilian who were shot are both expected to be fine.
According to the BSO, the shooting went down at the Days Inn at 1595 W. Oakland Park Blvd. just after midnight as the Sheriff's Office Fugitive Squad, Fort Lauderdale Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service were closing in on Henry Kiner.
Kiner, 27, was wanted for shooting and killing a Fort Lauderdale man on August 11.
Police say Kiner was shot by law enforcement during the shootout and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the officer and hotel guest who were shot have not been released.
According to the report, the cop was shot in the arm and was treated and released. The hotel guest's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
It seems, from the report, that the guest was a victim of a stray bullet and wasn't involved in the shootout.
Witnesses say they heard the loud gunshots erupting late in the evening and heard police telling Kiner to get down.
No one else was injured in the melee.
With the investigation ongoing, eastbound and westbound exits to Oakland Park Boulevard from I-95 have been closed off, with Oakland Park Boulevard traffic west of I-95 closed in both directions.
