A Deerfield Beach man was busted for breaking into a home and stealing appliances. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the man had two accomplices -- his teenaged sons.
The two boys -- ages 15 and 16 -- helped their dad haul away the merchandise but were foiled when a witness spotted them coming out of a house with stuff that didn't belong to them.
And people complain that too many fathers just don't spend any quality time with their kids.
BSO says A.J. Bryant and his boys busted into a home on the 800 block of NE 51st Court in Deerfield Beach and began ransacking the place. There was no one home, according to police.
But instead of taking the usual robbery fare -- a TV, a laptop, or cash -- the trio went for big items. Literally.
Bryant and his sons began to steal major appliances, including a Whirlpool washer and dryer, a Kenmore stove, a General Electric stove, and a refrigerator.
Gotta give it to Bryant for teaching his sons to think big and never settle for less. Of course, there are other ways a father can teach this lesson to his kids, but still.
The father-and-son team loaded the stuff into a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and took off. Then they came back and parked in front of another house to try and rob that one.
Breaking into a house and stealing stuff was fun, Dad! Can we do it again? Can we? Can we?
According to detectives, a witness spotted the trio the second time around and saw one of the boys head toward the back of the house, where he broke a window to gain access.
Bryant and sons robbed the second house and then took off.
Police were called, and they were able to track down Bryant and his sons. That's when they found that two other boys were also tagging along, ages 3 and 12 -- although they didn't participate in the actual thievery. Probably because the shit they decided to rob was too heavy.
According to police, the 15-year-old was on probation for a strong-arm robbery conviction.
Bryant had the 16-year-old as the driver of the truck. Bryant's driver's license was suspended. It's sets a good example to follow the law like that, we suppose.
According to BSO, Bryant was busted and charged with burglary and grand theft. And because he decided to bring his sons along for some quality father-son-robbery time, he was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors. As for the boys, they were charged with burglary and grand theft. The two younger kids were returned to their mother, who we're sure was thrilled with the whole affair.
