Just spoke with Tania Rues, spokeswoman for the Miramar Police Department. She says that in about an hour, she'll give a statement about the slayings on Encino Street. Rues expects to then release the number of dead and shed at least a little more light on what remains a very mysterious case.
Miramar Police received a call yesterday afternoon from a friend of the one surviving victim. "She told the friend that she had been shot the night before," says Rues. "As of last night [detectives] were still trying to determine the timeline of exactly what happened."
It appears the victims were shot. The lone survivor is at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, and it's not known whether she is in a condition to offer more information about the case. Rues said, "It's too early to speculate about a motive."
