George Zimmerman has been arrested in Orlando after an apparent domestic incident at a residence. Zimmerman was arrested by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office about 1 p.m. today, authorities said.
The Sheriff's Office stated it will release the 911 call and the police report as soon as they become available.
On February 26, 2012, Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old. Police took several weeks to arrest Zimmerman for the shooting, causing mass protest and attention to the case across the nation.
On July 13, Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder by a six-person jury.
This past September, Zimmerman was released without charges after his wife called 911 accusing Zimmerman of punching her father in the nose while also threatening to shoot him and her. No charges were filed in that incident, and police never proved Zimmerman was in possession of a gun at that time.
Zimmerman has also been pulled over for speeding twice since his acquittal in the Martin murder trial, once in September for going 60 mph in a 45-mph zone. He received a $256 ticket and was not carrying a weapon at the time. The second instance was in Texas, where the officer involved stated he let Zimmerman go with just a warning.
