New Poll: Florida Republicans Like Purging Voters Even More Than Standing Their Ground

Despite widespread debate over both the state's voter purge and its "Stand Your Ground" law, a Q poll released this morning shows both are overwhelmingly supported by the state's wide Republican base.


Of Republicans polled, 90 percent they said they approved the voter purges, despite claims from the U.S. Department of Justice that the move violates both the Voting Rights Act, and, in booting people off of voter rolls so close to a primary election, also the National Voter Registration Act. We love it anyway, thank you.


(Democrats were opposed to the purge 60 percent to 33 percent, for what it's worth, which is almost nothing.)

Also resoundingly endorsed: "Stand Your Ground," the controversial law that replaces running away from bad guys with shooting people in the face. Republicans support the law 81 percent to 12 percent while Democrats are opposed 60 to 30.

The poll was of 1,697 registered voters with a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points. Here are the rest of the results:
