Marco Rubio appeared on the Daily Show With Jon Stewart last night, on same the night that the rest of the GOP got together up in Tampa to hear Chris Cristie talk about himself while others threw peanuts at an African-American woman while saying, "This is how we feed the animals."

Stewart told Rubio that he should quit the Senate and run for governor of Florida in 2016.

"You should take over for Rick Scott," Stewart said. "Florida deserves a governor with hair!"

Rubio kept repeating "He's doing a great job."

Some of the highlights:

Stewart on Florida papers having the best police blotters to report from: A python ate a cat!

Rubio: No, we have a lot of great papers that have won Pulitzers for their reporting.

Stewart: About cat disappearances!

Stewart on Romney not going with Rubio as his running mate: You dodged it, my friend. Because it would've been uncomfortable for you to run against him in 2016.

Stewart on Romney as a candidate: He's gotten better. He was wooden. And now he's not wooden. He's clay-like.

Stewart on Rubio's speech introducing Romney: Have they said to you, "Hey, Charisma Boy... take it down a notch"?

Rubio on if Florida was given stimulus money: I was not a fan of the stimulus because it was borrowed money, and I didn't think the rate of return on it was good enough. We now owe $800 billion for it and really didn't get any economic growth as a result of it, certainly not the kind of economic growth that we're looking for.

Stewart retorts: But it got you some.

Rubio: But not the kind that you would have thought for $800 billion.

Stewart: Florida had the battery plant, the SAFT. "Do you know that one, SAFT?

Rubio: I'm not familiar with it.

Stewart: You're not familiar with it. Well, I read the Florida papers.
