People will do some crazy things to get out of a speeding ticket, but the cops say 38-year-old Victor Morales took it to a whole new level.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, one of its deputies clocked Morales riding his motorcycle at 112 mph near I-95 and Gateway Boulevard back in late March.
In a video from the sheriff's office released to CBS12 yesterday, the entire event is captured on the deputy's dashboard camera: The deputy catches up to Morales as he came to a stop on the next interstate off-ramp, and as Morales tried to speed off, the deputy grabs on to the back of the motorcycle -- taking a horrifying 300-foot drag on the bag of Morales' bike.
The first moment you know the deputy is OK is when he hops up, brushes himself off a bit, and screams "motherfucker."
The deputy actually attempts to continue his pursuit of Morales, hopping back into his patrol car and speeding down the highway.
Police tracked down and arrested Morales at a Boynton Beach shopping plaza shortly after the dragging.
Morales now faces charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, and resisting arrest with violence. He was released from police custody on March 30.
