Dennis Rodman Apologizes for Outburst, Blames It on Drinking

On Tuesday, we wrote about how Dennis Rodman lost his shit and blew up on CNN's Chris Cuomo during an interview like an old-school WWF Wrestler.

Well, the very next day, with the aftermath that the internet tends to cause these kinds of things and with the NBA players who traveled with him to North Korea expressing regret, Rodman is apologizing for the outburst.

He's blaming stress for the whole thing. Also, booze.

Rodman issued the apology through a publicist -- which was the wise way to go, given the fact that if he wrote it, it would probably be a garbled mess. Rodman specifically apologized for his comments about Kenneth Bae, the American who is imprisoned in North Korea on supposed trumped-up charges of trying to overthrow their government.

The apology was released via the Associated Press:

"I want to apologize. I take full responsibility for my actions. It had been a very stressful day. Some of my teammates were leaving because of pressure from their families and business associates. My dreams of basketball diplomacy was quickly falling apart. I had been drinking. It's not an excuse but by the time the interview happened I was upset. I was overwhelmed. It's not an excuse, it's just the truth.

"I want to first apologize to Kenneth Bae's family. I want to apologize to my teammates and my management team. I also want to apologize to Chris Cuomo. I embarrassed a lot of people. I'm very sorry. At this point I should know better than to make political statements. I'm truly sorry."

Though Rodman didn't specifically say Bae deserved to be to imprisoned, he did sort of imply it in his CNN interview with Cuomo.

"The one thing about politics, Kenneth Bae did one thing. If you understand -- if you understand what Kenneth Bae did," an emotionally flustered Rodman said to Cuomo. "Do you understand what he did? In this country?"

"What did he do?" Cuomo asked. "You tell me."

"You tell me," Rodman said. "You tell me. Why is he held captive?"

WON'T SOMEBODY TELL SOMEBODY WHAT HE DID?!

Meanwhile, Charles Smith, one of the former NBA players who traveled with Rodman to Pyongyang, expressed his regret for doing so.

Seeing Rodman flip out on Cuomo like he was Mean Gene Okerlund on live TV probably was the tipping point for Smith.

Meanwhile, Rodman and Friends' stint over in North Korea continues. And while the former Chicago Bull says stress and booze caused him to go bananas in an interview, he continues to be total BFFs with Kim Jong-un.

He even sang "Happy Birthday" for the North Korean leader on Wednesday:

An apology through a publicist is a start, though.

If Rodman had issued the apology himself, it would probably read something like:

"I apologize for the world because basketball people and these guys look at these guys! LOOK AT THEM. One day, one day, one day, one day, apple baby foot monster bicycle cranberry sauce."
