Barbecue in South Florida is getting better. And, lucky for us, that means plenty of savings are in effect.

Set in the former site of Texas Hold 'Em BBQ, the Red Cow in Fort Lauderdale is one such spot. Brought to you from the creators of Coconuts, Foxy Brown, and G&B Oyster, owner Elliot Wolf has created a barbecue restaurant that offers an amazing array of animal parts, creative sauces, and finger-licking-good sides.

The restaurant's Texas-born chef, Steve Shockey, spends days marinating and smoking his high-quality cuts of meat in an attempt to fuse together the juxtaposing 'cue palates that make up South Florida.

And, on Wednesday, Red Cow offers a great deal on its pork spare ribs.

When it comes to different styles and cuts of ribs, this Fort Lauderdale barbecue joint is at the top of almost any list. In fact, New Times even gave it the honor of Best Barbecue in the 2014 edition of the annual Best Of awards last June.

Here, the bony, smoked meat is served up like you've never seen before. Shockey spent weeks cooking more than 1,000 pounds of meat in an attempt to perfect his recipe and method.

Each week, there's a special savings you can't pass up: Wacky Rib Wednesday, when you can get a full portion of Shockey's dry-rubbed and smoked pork spare rib entrée with a side for $12.

The offer is good all day long and includes a choice of sides such as cowboy potatoes, corn on the cob, and sweet potato grits for lunch or coleslaw, fries, onion tumbleweed, deviled eggs, fried Brussels sprouts, hush puppies, and barbecued baked beans for dinner.

Although they aren't part of Wacky Rib Wednesday, additional rib selections include stacked beef ribs (Wagyu beef brushed with pomegranate molasses), flanken beef ribs (braised and smoked short ribs), and baby back pork ribs (dry-rubbed and steamed with beer).

Of course, if you're looking for more than just ribs, Red Cow has you covered. Lone Star-style brisket? Yes. Carolina pulled pork? Got it. Kansas City sauce? You (and your food) are good to go.

Red Cow is located at 1025 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-652-1524, or visit, redcowftl.com.
