From June through November, the weather in South Florida can be a bit tricky. Generally, you can expect to see afternoon rains every day, but gentle showers aside, you never know when you're going to get a tropical storm or hurricane.

This weekend, it looks like the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal ae going to be heading our way. While the heavy rains might help your garden, they might negatively affect your big weekend plans.

If you're planning on going to Boca Burger Battle this Saturday, don't worry. According to event organizer and president of BocaRaton.com and the Bites Network, Russell Spadaccini, "The Burger Battle is taking place rain or shine."

We spoke to Spadaccini about the rain plans and overall details on the event.

The event is taking place this Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. in Boca Raton's Sanborn Square More than 20 contesters will be battling it out for a chance to win golden burger trophy and hold the title of the best Boca burger.

Sef the Burger Beast, Jamie Frankel from Burgers by the Beach, Stephanie Miskew from the Glamorous Gourmet, and celebrity chef Dean Max will be the event's grill master judge. Publix Apron's Cooking School resident chef Wes Bonner is this year's chief grill master for the event.

In addition to the obvious burgers, the event will feature an array of bites ranging from French fries and onion rings to tropical salads, rum cakes, liquor-infused ice cream, and apple pie. And, of course, tons of beer and liquor.

General-admission tickets cost $55 per person, and VIP tickets cost $85 per person. VIP guests get early entrance (6 p.m. for VIP and 7 p.m. for general admission), access to the Grill Master's Lounge, and two-for-one cocktails at the afterparty hosted by Jazziz Nightlife.

Spadaccini advises preparing for Chantal, but he isn't particularly worried about the possible rains.

"South Florida's weather is unpredictable. People are used to South Florida's rain -- especially in the summer. It can be raining a half a mile away and sunny at the event location. Last year, it rained for five minutes out of four hours and no one cared! They actually enjoyed the cooler temperatures afterwards. We suggest to bring a rain poncho... just in case."

Sanborn Square is located at 72 N. Federal Highway in Boca Raton. Call 561-338-7594, or visit bocaraton.com.
