We've all had those undeniable cravings for a dish from our favorite restaurant on the day it's closed or during its off hours. Let's be honest: It really sucks.
Unfortunately, many great dinner places close their doors during the day, when the rest of the world is running around and working. Sure, they need time to prep and readjust for a busy evening, just like the rest of us, but when it's affecting our hankerings, it's not always easy to be understanding.
To make your life easier -- and your taste buds happier -- Hot and Soul is starting a new lunch program this week.

Starting this week, the international soul-food spot will be open for lunch every Thursday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
After months of customers asking for a lunch service, husband-and-wife team Mike Hampton and Christy Samoy finally decided to start the program.
"A lot of people have told us, 'If only you were open for lunch, I could come in more,'" said Samoy. "What helped make us give in was when our doggy daycare counselors tried to come in for lunch. Honestly, if we had been in any condition prepwise to serve them, we would have served them."
You can expect to see some of the most popular items from the dinner menu, like the New Orleans-inspired Aunt Dewey's Gumbo and the Filipino Chicken Adobo, as well as simple classics such as steak salad and a soba noodle soup with mushrooms and pork shoulder. But Hampton and Samoy will also be writing up a menu that will have dishes that will be changing daily. Expect to see prices ranging from $9 to $18.
While the spot serves as just as much of a hangout as a restaurant in the evening with a large selection of craft beers, boutique wines, and a laid-back environment, lunch will be focused on quick service for busy office workers.
"We will be doing counter service for lunch," said Samoy. "We know some people don't have much time for lunch, so this will help get them in and out faster."
