As much as we love eating, all-you-can-eat doesn't sound all that exciting -- it conjures images of sweaty salad and gray beef.
Food festivals, on the other hand, encompass unlimited chef-prepared food (and booze) without the pallid meat and soggy veg. It's pretty much a win-win.
The streets will be overflowing with gourmands in the food capital of South Florida this weekend. Delray Bash is taking over Old School Square, with dozens of local restaurants, plenty of booze, and craft beer.

The event -- taking place Saturday, October 18, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and sponsored by the American Lung Association -- is bringing food, booze, and live music to downtown Delray.
But it's not just fun and games. The event raise funds and awareness for the ALA.
"This is not just any ordinary food and wine festival; this is a fundraiser for the American Lung Association, and it benefits our many programs within Palm Beach County," says development manager Lea Tate. "We are promoting lung health and preventing lung disease through education, research, and advocacy. We feel it is important that everyone understands the importance of lung health because everyone deserves the right to healthy lungs and healthy air. So because of this, we created this fundraising event with lovers of specialty cuisine and specialty cocktails, wines, and beers in mind."
For $50 in advance, $60 at the door, guests get to sample fare from Ben and Jerry's, Bru's Room Sports Grill, Buddha Sky Bar, Caffe Luna Rosa, Dada Restaurant, DIG "Doing It Green" Restaurant, Gelato Petrini, Mastino by SoLita Italian, Nature's Way Café, Oceana Coffee, On the Hunt Food, and Pizza Rustica.
In terms of alcohol, there's something for everyone. The event includes wines and spirits from around the globe, such as Sapphire's World Bazaar signature cocktails, wines from William Hill Estate Winery, Shellback rum, and New Amsterdam vodka. Craft beer will be provided by Saltwater Brewery, Stone Brewery, and Terrapin Beer Co.
"We select only premium beverage brands as well as favorite local joints to provide the food samplings for the evening," says Tate. "If you enjoy trying new things while also enjoying some of your all-time favorites, this is an event that shouldn't be missed."
In addition to consumables, this year's event includes new features such as a photo booth and life-sized games (think Jenga, Kerplunk, and Connect 4).
