Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club Hosts Inaugural Pints in the Park

There aren't too many people who can argue that drinking beer for a charitable cause is a great idea. Which is why the Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club has organized a special event that focuses on -- you guessed it -- nonprofits and craft brews.

The Fort Lauderdale-based organization will host its inaugural Pints in the Park on Sunday, November 16. The event will feature more than 20 craft breweries, local nonprofits, live music, and food trucks.

The Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club (FLWC) works to engage the women of Fort Lauderdale as volunteers to address the civic, educational, cultural, and humanitarian needs of the community.

The idea to spread awareness alongside good beer was inspired by FLWC member and Riverside Market owner Lisa Siegel.

"After learning about the mission of the Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club, we wanted to preserve the tradition that Ivy Stranahan began over 100 years ago to bring the community together with events that better our community," says Siegel. "We feel that Pints in the Park will do just that."

The event is sponsored by local craft beer hangout Riverside Market and Gold Coast Beverage Distributors and will feature more than 20 craft breweries which attendees will have the opportunity to sample. Live music will be provided by local musicians, Phil Barnes, the Goddamn Hustle, and more. Guests will also enjoy a showcase of local artisans and nonprofits throughout the community.

Brett Hubbard, craft and specialty import district manager for Gold Coast Beverage, says his company has been working with Riverside Market for the past five years in an effort to grow the craft beer scene in Fort Lauderdale. When the opportunity arose to work together with the Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club -- one of the oldest philanthropic organizations in the community -- he was honored to support an event that brings nonprofit organizations and craft beer lovers together.

"We look forward to the start of an annual event that we can grow for many years to come," says Hubbard.

Tickets for Pints in the Park are on sale at fortlauderdalewomansclub.com. Entry is $35 for adults, $15 for patrons under 21. Children enter for free.
