The Best Food and Drink Events This Weekend: Galt Mile Wine & Food Fest, and WIRK Rib Round Up

Congratulations, you made it through yet another working week. You might as well give yourself a pat on the back to celebrate -- or better yet, a drink or three.

Whether you're looking to attend the 6th annual Riverwalk Burger Battle, win some tickets to the Lake Worth Reggae Fest, or eat some ribs, there's plenty for you to do in South Florida this weekend.

5. Hangover Sunday at PRL Euro Cafe

If you've been to PRL -- and you likely have -- you know that atmosphere is abundant at the cozy hangout. That's a principal reason why the label's Ryan De La Torre decided to host his early-night party, Hangover Sundays, there again. "The vibe at PRL is very underground and laid-back with a splash of art," he points out, adding, that there are "over 100 beers on tap with such exotic names as: Delirium, Zywiec, Framboise or Skull Splitter..." You get the idea. There's plenty of finely titled brews. But the mood of Hangover Sundays is truly guided by the music it showcases. "I decided to do it early so that when people come out, they can really hear and take an educated listen to the music versus getting to the club after midnight and focusing more on raging out." Torre tells us that you can expect "deep minimal type of dubstep and future bass music. It's bass-heavy with lots of dark bass lines and dubby sounds." And the night usually rakes in about 40 to 50 partygoers. Since it takes place on Sunday, Torre was mindful to keep the party a modest 7 p.m. to midnight, so that working ladies and gents can hit the sack early enough to not regret it when awakened by their Monday-morning alarms. 4. Reggae Fest Pre-Party at Benny's On The Beach

For two consecutive days in April, Bryant Park in Lake Worth will be a smiley, happy place full of irie vibes thanks to the annual Reggae Fest. The event brings together a diverse crowd, stellar bands, and quality vendors for a weekend full of Jah-loving fun. Rastas coursed the scene as boomers relaxed in beach chairs sipping cold beer and little tykes blew bubbles, barefoot in the lawn. The seawall overlooking the Intracoastal was used as a pristine sideline bench, where festgoers took breaks from the action as well as lovely photos. Meanwhile, the stage will be rocked by a strong lineup of reggae bands, ranging from local and regional up-and-comers. Of course, the real party will start on Friday, March 7, with a special pre-party at Benny's On The Beach. Starting at 4 p.m., the restaurant will be giving away 50 free tickets to the Reggae Fest while offering 2-for-1 drink specials. A live performance by Marijah and The Reggae All-Stars will follow at 6 p.m. Benny's On The Beach is located at 10 South Ocean Boulevard, Lake Worth.

3. Galt Mile Wine and Food Festival

If you love sampling wine, beer, and food in the South Florida sunshine, another food festival taking place this weekend will be a great place to enjoy all three -- and for a discounted rate. On Saturday, March 7, Fort Lauderdale will host the third-annual Galt Mile Wine & Food Festival, resurrecting last year's blockbuster annual affair where thousands of local residents and visitors sampled food and drink prepared by some of South Florida's most talented chefs. This year, the annual festival has grown to include unlimited sampling of artisan wines, live cooking demonstrations, educational seminars, and a retail bazaar where you can shop for artisanal cheeses and other specialty food items -- as well as those meant for pairing with beer, wine, and spirits. Attendees will also be able to sample a wide assortment of craft beers and spirits while sampling food tastings by some of South Florida's most experienced chefs. 2. WIRK Rib Round Up Music Festival

Nothing gets us hot and sticky faster than the idea of a whole day of BBQ consumption. Time to strap on our boots, throw on our favorite jeans, (AKA built-in napkin), and get our fix of ribs 'n' country. This Saturday the WIRK Rib Round Up Music Festival returns to West Palm Beach starting at noon on Saturday, March 7, at Coral Sky Amphitheatre. Sing and dance along to country stars including Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, Thompson Square, Dustin Lynch, Gloriana, Jerrod Niemann, and The Swon Brothers. Then, eat all the ribs you can and vote for your favorites. The competition will include ribs by Renegade's, Troy's BBQ, Smoke Shack BBQ, Best Damn Ribs, and more.
