Like everything in life, summer in South Florida has pluses and minuses. The weather, for one, is definitely a minus; this week's torrential downpours are enough to rain on anyone's parade.
However, with the heat comes the mangoes; and that should make up for some of the painful humidity, frizzy hair, and massive mosquitoes that we have to deal with on a near-daily basis.
To help us drink the pain away celebrate, this week's featured bartender Tiffany Pearson shares with us her favorite cocktail recipe, Uncle Julio's spiced mango passion margarita.

This recipe incorporates tropical flavors from ingredients that should be readily available in South Florida. While you can buy mango passion puree in stores, if you want to use up some of those fresh mangoes, we have directions for a do-it-yourself.
Spiced Mango Passion Margarita
1 1/2 ounces 1800 Reposado Tequila
1 ounce mango passion puree
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice with fresh cilantro
1 jalapeño sliver
chili powder
Combine the tequila, mango passion puree, and lime cilantro mixture in a cocktail shaker over ice. Dip the rim of the glass in lime juice, lightly dip into the chili powder, and add fresh ice. Shake the combined margarita mixture vigorously and pour into the glass. Garnish with the jalapeño sliver.
Mango Passion Fruit Puree
1 large ripe mango, diced (if you're using a smaller varietal use two)
1 cup passion fruit nectar
Combine both ingredients in a blender, puree until smooth, and strain.
