Is there anything more indulgent than a warm, flaky, fresh-from-the-oven croissant for breakfast? I can taste it now: all that buttery goodness just begging for a slathering of butter and strawberry jam.

Yep, you can tell where my mind is at this morning.

Lucky for all of us, TITOU Hospitality -- the team behind Pistache French Bistro, PB Catch Seafood Restaurant and Raw Bar and Patrick Lézé Palm Beach -- has opened the doors to its new French bakery in downtown West Palm Beach. That means there will be plenty of croissants to go around.

On September 3, TITOU founder and restaurateur Thierry Beaud joined the Mayor Jerri Mouio and executive director of the Downtown Development Authority, Raphael Clemente, to cut the ribbon to officially open Paneterie's doors to the public.

To quench his cravings for authentic French pastry, Beaud decided to open one himself.

"Each time I go to New York or Europe, I indulge in great breads, pastries, and chocolates," Beaud said. "Only to realize, when I come home that there isn't really anywhere I can have these same pleasures."

As a result, the bakery will be making most of the menu items -- like the breads, croissants, and danishes -- throughout the day and in-house. More intricate pastries, like macarons and chocolates, will still be fresh but prepared in an offsite commissary kitchen.

The café serves a variety of authentic French fare, a menu that includes hot and cold gourmet sandwiches, grilled panini, salads, quiche, and more. There's also a full menu of coffee and tea. The concept for the bakery is based on the idea of providing high-quality, fresh-made products at affordable prices, with pasties starting at $1.75, and sandwiches at $6.

Paneterie is located at 205 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach. Visit www.paneterie.com, or call 561-223-2992.
