Copperpoint Brewing Co. Opens Today in Boynton Beach

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Boynton Beach and the craft beer community of South Florida as a whole: The city will welcome the opening of its second brewery, Copperpoint Brewing Co. 

Situated a whopping 1,000 feet from Due South Brewing (at 151 Commerce Road), the brewery is the latest project from brewer and owner Matt Cox, previously of Big Bear Brewing Co. in Coral Springs. 

The facility features a more than 2,000-square-foot air-conditioned tap room in a wood-and-metal-oriented decor created by Boynton Beach locals Ed Carey Design. With polished concrete floors, gooseneck lamps, and some vintage-looking sketches on the walls, it's got an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. "They're creative guys who brought this place to life," Cox told us during a preview event this past weekend. 
He also shared that the vision for this establishment has been swirling around for the past four years, even if the location selection and buildout occurred only in the past nine months. Few issues popped up (a minor naming issue notwithstanding), and now the brewery is getting ready to show itself to the public. "I'm happy about what has come out [of it]," he said.

Though the taproom and the beer are the main attraction, an upstairs mezzanine exists that will soon house some games and activities for adults to partake in, just like your backyard. There's even some room outside for the possibility of a covered beer garden. The potential is all around.

Back to the here and now: There will be a great many beers coming out of this brewery. Of the seven beers we were able to sample over the weekend, two really stood out: the C.P. Lager, an amber lager that's crisp with a balanced sweetness; and the B. Rabbit espresso stout, a creamy (on nitro!) and freshly aromatic coffee beer that holds softly on the coffee acridity and is brewed with a special blend from Rabbit Coffee Roasting Co. in Riviera Beach.  There are quite a few other styles, each impressive in their own right, including the A-10 Hophog red IPA and the Witness Belgian wit, that will appeal to most every beer drinker's tastes. 


Starting at noon today, May 11, the brewery taproom will be open for business, slinging beers across a copper bar top and out of a suspended and chilled tap system. Parking will be limited before 4 p.m. as they are situated in a busy industrial warehouse area, but the brewery has confirmed that street parking is legal, and supervised children will be allowed before 6 p.m. 

In addition, the Rolling Chefs will be rolling in at around 5 p.m. for the opening-day festivities. 
Copperpoint Brewing Co is located at 151 Commerce Road in Boynton Beach. Hours will be until 10 p.m. during the week, 11 p.m. on the weekends, and 8 p.m. on Sundays.
