The weekend is finally here. Huzzah! Sure, it's been a short week, but still. You deserve a break. And a break you shall have! Time to hit up the city and get into some crazy.

But heads up!

The Broward Sheriff's Office is conducting a DUI checkpoint tonight in Fort Lauderdale. And while you should already have yourself a designated driver, it's good to know where the cops will be copping as you kick off your weekend good times.

BSO's DUI Task Force and district personnel, along with other agencies and municipalities, will be setting up their DUI checkpoint at 3600 W. Commercial Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

The checkpoint will be going down between 8:30 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

The purpose of the checkpoint, as ever, is to detect and apprehend drunk and impaired drivers who are an immediate threat to other drivers, other people, and themselves. And to make sure motorists have the proper vehicle documents, including driver's licenses, registration, and insurance.

So if you're going out tonight to get the weekend rolling early, be sure to have all your documents. And be sure to not drink. And if you must drink, get someone sober to drive, or call yourself a cab.
