Father's Day 2015 in Broward and Palm Beach Counties: Where to Take Dad on His Special Day

With Father's Day right around the corner on Sunday, June 21, we decided to round up some cool places to treat Daddy-o to some delicious eats. Although not cheap by any means, these restaurants stray far from your typical breakfast menu.

Father’s Day was inspired by Mother’s Day. Spokane, Washington, resident Sonora Louise Smart Dodd started this movement with an affinity for her own father, who raised her and her siblings after her mother died during childbirth. The holiday is said to fall in June supposedly because Dodd’s father was born in that month. Although some theories claim that the first Father’s Day church service occurred in 1908 West Virginia, there are more supporting claims that the first Father’s Day was on June 19, 1910. In 1972, Father’s Day became a nationwide holiday celebrated on the third Sunday of every June, thanks to President Nixon. Guess we can forgive him for Watergate, huh?

Thanks to Shuck-N-Dive, LauderAle Brewery will be overabundant with crawfish. Buy tickets and receive a dozen oysters or 1 ½ pounds of crawfish, tater tots, or fried pickles and a beer. There will also be plenty of craft beer and live music to keep you jamming.

The Boynton-based brewery will offer free tours at 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m. Dads and their guests will also get the chance to drink Calling All Cars, a limited-edition doughnut and coffee porter. Buy a Due South Beer and get a free “Dads Love Beer” coozie, but really, you should give it to your dad.

Galuppi's doesn’t play when it comes to brunch. Its brunch buffet includes crab claw clusters, oysters on the half shell, peel-and-eat shrimp, prime rib and honey-baked-ham carving stations, omelets and eggs station, and a Belgium waffle station. Want to hit up Galuppi's for dinner instead? Delectable specials include seared duck breast, Hawaiian rib eye, and stuffed pork chop.

In addition to its already robust brunch, Blue Moon Fish Co. will give one craft beer for dads as well as half-priced craft beers. But don’t fret if you’re not even close to being a father figure; there will also be bottomless mimosa Champagne and bloody marys. Dads will also get small plates full of “dad’s favorites,” including a slider and a special eggs Benedict.

This Fort Lauderdale spot will offer its famous brunch for $49.50 as well as $15 for bottomless mimosas, bellinis, and bloody marys.

Mastino Wood Fired Italian Kitchen & Bar. 25 NE Second Ave., Delray Beach. Call 561-921-8687. $34.50 per person.
For dads into tradition, this food spot is for you. The Italian-American family-style dinner will include Italian cutting boards, meatballs, chicken Parmesan, and rigatoni with gravy. Obviously, there will be cannolis for dessert.

If your dad is the James Bondesque martini-sipping type, take him to Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. Friday kicks off the holiday with National Martini Day specials. Featured are seven different martinis, priced at $10 and $12 each. Come Sunday, stuff yourself in food with various breakfast pastries, salads, cheeses, seafood, tapas, sushi, and more. A bloody mary bar containing more than 30 sauces to mix in is just the icing on the cake for Daddy.

We figured we would feature a spot on the menu that takes a bit of travel time, to beautiful Coral Gables. The food looks so good here, you may just eat it all yourself. The eatery fee allows guests the choice of four tapas off the special Father's Day menu

Nothing says “hearty” like a Southern-style meal. Boca’s Sybarite Pig will celebrate Father’s Day with Southern fried chicken, smoked collards, blackberry cobbler, and biscuits. Entry includes chicken with sides, dessert, and a Florida-brewed draft beer. Is your mouth watering yet? We knew it.

West Palm Beach’s Bistro 1001 is offering a three-course prix-fixe menu of American cuisine. Guests can start with local crab chowder or an organic salad followed by pan-seared fish or grilled chicken. Finish off the meal with Key lime crème brûlée or house-made s’mores. Of course, you can also enjoy the à la carte menu items available, but this is a special occasion we’re talking about here.
