You may have known them as Lagerhead Brewing Company during the last few years, as Steve and Tim Dornblaser made the festival circuit with their home brewed beer. They held events, tastings, get-togethers; a smorgasbord of ways to give out free beer, get feedback, and make a name for themselves. Now, they're making the leap into the commercial sphere.

Driftwood Ales, as they will now be called, is opening a brewery in Boynton Beach. They'll be situated at 2901 Commerce Park Road, just down the street from both Copperpoint Brewing Company and Due South Brewing Company.

Three breweries within walking distance? Uh, yes.

Construction of the brewery is expected to commence in summer 2015 with a planned opening for late fall 2015. The company is slated to produce "small batch local handcrafted beer" and include an onsite tap room.

"We would like to thank the City of Boynton Beach," owner Tim Dornblaser said. "They have been instrumental in developing the craft beer scene and have been extremely helpful in bringing Driftwood Ales to the area. With three craft breweries within only a few blocks we are excited to help make Boynton Beach a top craft beer destination in South Florida."

This won't be the end of brewery growth in Boynton Beach. Wild Oak Artisan Ales and Devour Brewing Co. will also be coming to the area in the near future.

For now, curious beer enthusiasts can follow Driftwood's progress on Twitter. Call 561-320-1522, or visit driftwoodales.com.
