Select South Florida Starbucks Now Serving Beer, Wine, and Small Plates

Starbucks is brewing some big news with the announcement that select shops in Broward and Palm Beach will begin offering beer, wine, and small plates.

The news comes from CNN Money, which notes the chain is ramping up locations for Starbucks Evenings program (the moniker for its wine, beer, and food program), adding Brooklyn, Denver, Orlando, and South Florida to its growing list of cities where beer and wine will be available, making a total of 70 locations offering booze. 

The Seattle-based coffee chain has already been testing the wine and beer concept for years out west, with the hopes of adding beer and wine onto menus at 2,000 of their 12,000 shops currently in the U.S.

So far, eight South Florida Starbucks have been tapped to offer wine and beer, with four in Broward, three in Palm Beach, and one in Miami-Dade participating in Starbucks Evenings, starting today, August 18. All participating shops will offer their beer, wine, and small plates from 4 p.m. to closing.

Broward locations are 9700 Pines Blvd. in Pembroke Pines, 3349 W. Hillsboro Blvd. in Deerfield Beach, and 6111 Lyons Rd. in Coconut Creek. The fourth Broward location, at 101 NW 126th Ave. in Sunrise, confirmed they will start selling beer and wine in the next few weeks. 

Palm Beach locations include 226 Clematis St. in West Palm Beach, 10925 N. Military Trail in Palm Beach, and 287 E. Indiantown Rd. in Jupiter. 

In Miami-Dade, you can find beer and wine at 9560 Harding Ave. in Surfside. 

Although items may change, a sample menu available on the Starbucks website offers a changing selection of craft beers and about a dozen wines by the glass including  Erath pinot gris from Oregon; Villa Maria sauvignon blanc from New Zealand; Ferrari-Carano chardonnay from Sonoma, California; an Italian moscato and prosecco; Lange Estate Winery pinot noir from Willamette Valley; Almos malbec from Argentina; and Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington state.

Small dishes include truffle mac 'n' cheese, chicken sausage and goat cheese flatbread, meatballs with tomato basil sauce, bacon-wrapped dates; chicken skewers, truffle popcorn, and cheese and salumi plates. 

If you'd like a taste, the Deerfield Beach location (3349 W. Hillsboro Blvd.) is hosting a launch party tonight with free samples from 5 to 8 p.m. 

Coupled with Starbucks' familiar setting and free Wi-Fi, this could just make Starbucks the new cool place to meet someone for a drink.
