To usher in the fall season, Benny's on the Beach in Lake Worth has unveiled a new dinner menu, and according to Mercedes Castro, director of public relations for Benny's on the Beach, the upgraded assortment of dishes created by executive chef and restaurant co-owner Jeremy Hanlon offers an extensive selection of all-natural and house made ingredients that set the new menu apart from previous versions.

"There are so many more homemade sauces and ingredients, and a lot more options, such as gluten-free and vegetarian selections," said Castro.

New appetizers range from oversized crab cakes and a wahoo and mahi fish dip, to waffle fry nachos made with salsa verde, cheese, avocado, onions, tomatoes, and a homemade sriracha cream sauce. New dishes also include Florida-style fish dishes, like the mahi-mahi sandwich with mango tartar sauce served on fluffy challah bread, or the Captain’s Platter with fried fish and shrimp, conch fritters, and clam strips.

There’s also an array of Hanlon's signature dishes, like a citrus ginger tuna steak. There are even a few weekly specials, including a paella celebration on Saturday and Sunday, or outdoor seafood bake on Thursday and Friday.

But it's the signature lobster-themed dishes that are the real highlight here, and each one is available for a special discount starting this Thursday, September 17 through Sunday, September 20. The special Lobster Weekend offer includes Hanlon's take on the classic New England-style lobster roll; a lobster macaroni and cheese entree; the seafood bake (with lobster added); or the restaurant's new paella (with lobster added).

The Lobster Dip features a fresh-baked roll is buttered and grilled, then stuffed with six ounces of lobster meat drenched in lemon-garlic butter, tomato relish, and chives. To make it that much more decadent, the dish is served with garlic-parmesan fries and butter for dipping.

Looking for more meat? The Lobster Mac & Cheese offers handmade cavatelli pasta and fat chunks of lobster meat smothered in a roasted garlic cheese sauce, and topped with the chef's own tomato relish. Yeah, we know what you're thinking — not another lobster mac and cheese dish that has absolutely no lobster in it. Well, at Benny's there's bonus: a whole roasted, six-ounce lobster tail.

Benny’s on the Beach has enacted extended hours until 9 p.m., and the restaurant — which is largely outdoors — will offer an expanded, enclosed space for drinking, as well as a grill on the pier.

Need another reason to hit up the oceanfront restaurant? From now until October, all patrons who mention the American Red Cross during dinner at Benny’s on the Beach will have the opportunity to dine out for a good cause, when 10 percent of the price of their dinner donated to the American Red Cross to benefit the Centennial Program in the Palm Beaches.

*Oh yeah, Benny's has offered readers of New Times a little something extra — a complementary bottle of champagne. Just order one of these lobster dishes this Thursday through Sunday and present a printed copy (or digital screen shot on your smart phone) of this post to your server.
