Big Boi Will DJ a Secret Pop-Up Party in Dania Beach Tonight

Most people know Big Boi as one-half of the Grammy Award-winning Dirty South hip-hop duo, Outkast. As a solo artist, though, the Atlanta native has achieved similar notoriety, producing numerous albums and hits out on his own, as well as collaborating with everyone from Gucci Mane and George Clinton to Modest Mouse and Phantogram.

Earlier this month, we were treated to the musical stylings of the prolific Big Boi at the inaugural, sold-out Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival, where he provided a definite highlight to the three-day festival as one-third of the experimental, electronic hip-hop group, Big Grams.

Tonight, we're told, the massive artist will drop in for a DJ set in Dania Beach at the Gallery of Amazing Things, where he'll perform as part of the Lexus Pop-Up Concert Series Powered by Pandora. (You might remember that the same pop-up concert series brought us DFA label and LCD Soundsystem head-honcho James Murphy for an equally as unexpected yet much-appreciated DJ set at Gulfstream Park last year).

Unfortunately, by the time we caught wind of this special event, "free to a select number of Pandora listeners," RSVP had already closed. Despite Google returning very little in the way of information or press on tonight's party, according to a PR contact for the event, "Pandora listeners in the region who’ve shown an affinity for the artist by listening to them on Pandora received email invites." The show capacity is 300.

If you happen to be among the lucky few who were in the know and managed to snag an RSVP, be advised that admission to the 21+ event is on a first-come, first-served basis with RSVP, and RSVP does not guarantee admission if capacity is reached. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Since tonight's party apparently marks the launch of this year's Lexus/Pandora pop-up concert series, we're keeping our eyes peeled for any more surprises. Based on the talent they've booked so far, we're betting the team behind tonight's under-the-radar event have a few more tricks up their sleeves.
