Summertime in the South Florida dining scene used to be 'blah', with generic low-cost prix-fixe menus trying to get locals to come out during the lull of hurricane season. Luckily that's been generally erased, with restaurants going all-out to cater to locals and keep them happy year-round.

Deck 84, one of Delray Beach's more appropriately 'Florida' waterfront dining spots, will be hosting one such local-friendly event with a Samuel Adams paired four course dinner on Thursday, June 23 beginning at 6:30 pm. Keeping up with the continued realization that craft beer does pair well with fine food, the restaurant is forgoing wine for beer and giving the chefs something a little different to work with.

Diners will be joined by esteemed Samuel Adams representative and Cicerone (that's the beer equivalent of a sommelier) Mike Soto, who will guide patrons through each course, providing expert commentary about how the flavors match up. Dinners like this are great experiences even if you know little about craft beer or some of the ingredients being used: just think of it as a master class you can eat.

Check out this menu:

First Course
Ahi Tuna Crudo, Watermelon Radish, Miso Aioli, Lemon Oil, Pickled Watermelon Rind, Caviar, Pontano Farms Micro Cilantro - Paired with Porch Rocker.

Second Course
Grilled Swordfish, Smoked Tomato Butter, Sunshine Provisions Chorizo, Chick Pea, Sofrito Brodo, Venus Ray Clams - Paired with Boston Lager.

Third Course
Beer-Braised Pork Ragu, Creamy Polenta, Chevre, Forest Mushroom, Spinach - Paired with Rebel IPA.

Fourth Course
Flourless Chocolate Torte, Cherry Compote, Stout Sabayon, Candied Cocoa Nib - Paired with Nitro Coffee Stout.

"With the enormous popularity of the craft beer industry, we feel a number of our guests will truly appreciate such a dinner series at our restaurants,” Burt Rapoport, President of Rapoport’s Restaurant Group, the parent company of Deck 84, said. “Sam Adams is such a leader in the beer industry and we look forward to working with them and providing our guests a fun, educational and delicious event."

According to the restaurant space is limited and guests must reserve their by Monday, June 20. The price is $45 per person; excluding tax and gratuity. For reservations, contact Brittany Kilian at 561-826-1791.
