Celebrate Summer With Free Milkshakes and Boozy Ice Cream Flavors

It's an easy equation to remember: summer = ice cream. This summer, you can celebrate both at these local establishments, each offering everything from free ice cream to specialty releases.

Some things just go perfectly together: peanut butter and jelly; burgers and fries; pretzels and beer; or ice cream and liquor.

OK, so maybe there are other things that pair well with ice cream, but not much beats an icy cold treat that can also deliver a buzz. At least, that's the idea behind South Florida Distillers' and Wilton Creamery's new "Fwaygo Friday," a boozy ice cream collaboration to create a series of specialty, rum-infused ice cream flavors that will be available all summer long.

Starting this month, South Floridians will be able to cool down with Wilton Creamery’s new line of Fwaygo rum-infused ice creams, available through August. Limited quantities of each liquor-infused ice cream flavor will be released the last Friday of every month at the Wilton Manors-based ice cream shop.

Each ice cream flavor release date will be announced on Wilton Creamery’s Facebook page. Prices will range from $4.45 (small) to $7.75 (large).

Upcoming flavor releases include the Fwaygo Flamed Banana Brownie (flame-roasted Fwaygo Rum and brown-sugar bananas with brownie bits in a brown butter ice cream) and Fwaygo Rum Ball (milk chocolate sweet cream ice cream with Fwaygo Rum balls and Nilla cookie pieces).

When it comes to summertime treats, ice cream always hits the sweet spot – a cool, comfort-food classic to beat the heat, served with a side of nostalgia. To celebrate the start to the summer season, Wayback Burgers in Coconut Creek will be giving away one free junior-size Black & White milkshake per guest at its locations nationwide on Monday, June 20, no purchase necessary.

Wayback Burgers’ milkshakes are made the old-fashioned way: by hand, using only fresh milk and hand-dipped ice cream. The restaurant's classic Black & White milkshake is made with premium vanilla bean ice cream, milk, and a blend of vanilla and Hershey’s chocolate syrup.
