The Historical Society of Palm Beach County presents a lecture by Mr. Richard Rene Silvin about his new book SS Normandie: North Atlantic’s Greatest Goddess at 7:00 pm in the 3rd Floor Courtroom inside the historic 1916 Court House, 300 North Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach. Mr. Silvin will begin the presentation with a review of the history of transatlantic travel during the nineteenth century and the race to build the ultimate ship in the "roaring nineteen twenties." Mr. Silvin share why he considers Normandie the ultimate liner, using pictures of Normandie’s spectacular interiors, including rarely seen glimpses of life aboard the floating palace. A reception and book signing will follow in the bookstore on the museum (2nd) floor. On the night of the lecture, free parking will be available on the north side of the 1916 Court House as of 6:00 pm, with entry at the southeast corner of 4th Street and Dixie Highway, across from the West Palm Beach Fire Rescue Station.
