Amid the revolving door of trendy restaurants and nightclubs on Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach is this shabby-chic, owl-themed diner has stood the test of time as one of the area's oldest restaurants. Despite a relocation to a new spot in 2016, one just around the corner from the original restaurant, not much has changed in the past 30-plus years, says owner David Gensman. The cash only business is still packed from open at 7 a.m. to close at 3 p.m., where locals rub elbows for a chance to nosh on some of the best home cooked greasy spoon fare in the area. The menu continues to offer reliable standbys like club sandwiches, omelets, and some damn good home fries. Try the house favorites: the "Big Bill" with two eggs, three hotcakes, and four bacon strips or the "Dave's Deluxe" with three eggs, home fries or grits, and toast or bagel. The prices are reasonable and service is fast, even when there's a seemingly long wait (especially during the breakfast rush in the height of season).
