You could drive by this gritty-looking strip mall on Okeechobee Boulevard a thousand times and never know that one of the best midpriced Italian restaurants in Palm Beach County is nestled behind a curtained window and a nondescript door. Stresa has been in business since 1995, owned by the same folks who run the fancier and ultradelicious Trevini in Palm Beach, but the sad-sack location doesn't mean they scrimp on ingredients or art. The food's fabulous: smoky grilled calamari with white beans, delicious tortellini soup, aromatic and woodsy agnolotti with wild mushroom sauce, salmon livornese, and beautiful veal dishes. They've also got a nice list of wines by the glass or bottle.
