The folks who own Stresa on Okeechobee Boulevard have made the leap to Palm Beach, serving seafood salads to ladies who lunch (after a stroll through Saks Fifth Avenue and Chanel) on the second floor of the Worth Avenue Esplanade, ground zero for filthy-rich shopaholics. Lunch is still reasonably priced here, and there's terrific people-watching - doddering gazillionaires, Mafiosi, models, second-tier starlets, and the great society grand dames, newly refurbished skin stretched taut over their fashionable cheekbones. Homemade squid-ink pastas, veal-filled tortellini, egg drop soup, buttery pan-fried trout with lemon and capers are all served by Neapolitan waiters, winking, rolling their r's, having excellent fun. Trevini's Wine Spectator-quality list of rare American and Italian wines helps numb the pain of what you've just spent at Tiffany's.
