The doors opened and CBS commentators Rich Gannon and Kevin Harlan's voices washed over the left side of my brain like a tall glass of cold Amber Boch. It's like I died and went to sports-watching heaven. Unfortunately, even here, the Dolphins can't get into the playoffs. All Stars Sports Bar announces itself with flags and banners alongside Marina Mile Road, a block west of I-95. Otherwise, this oasis would remain hidden, tucked away among the marina's boats and the nondescript buildings along State Road 84. The game is broadcast in surround sound for everyone to hear. No, you won't hear White Snake — or any other '80s rock balladeers who so often fill the air at most sports bars. Six huge front-projection HD screens and 11 midsized LCDs bring the game to brilliantly colored life. The brick walls and glossy lacquered new oak trim of the high tops and booth tables set the mood for beer, chicken wings, and cursing Tony Romo's inability to win the big game. Come in on Sunday and get the second item from the menu half off. Oh, and $5.99 pitchers of domestic or five bottles for $10. Get $3 shots of Jack Daniels or $2 Bud Lights on Monday. Get two for one from 8 p.m. to midnight on Tuesdays, and women drink free after 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Grab the mic and sing a song to get a free drink on Thursdays. Come in on Saturday and get a bucket of five Pilsners for $12 or $2 pints of Foster's beginning at 11 a.m. Just in time for the pregame show.
