You could finish repaving Clematis Street with all the hyphens: Happy Anarchy is the indie-brass-pub-emo-anthem-jam-rock band you’ve always craved but never thought possible. Hailing from Staten Island, New York, this energetic eight-piece plays the kind of broad-minded music that usually slips through the cracks because of bogus attempts at categorization. More than genre-fied standards, what you get with these guys is pure passion and no small amount of talent. Led by the plaintive-to-paralyzing vocals of Joe Pecora and a snappy, slap-bang rhythm section, Happy Anarchy throws in a two-piece horn section for the brighter moments and grave piano for the moodier ones. The resulting range of colors and feelings is surprisingly vast and definitely intriguing. This is their first trip to South Florida — show ’em some love, people.

Happy Anarchy plays at 9 p.m. Thursday, September 29, and Saturday, October 1, at Alligator Alley, 1321 Commercial Blvd., Oakland Park. The Thursday show is free; the Saturday show costs $5. Call 954-771-2220. The band also plays at 10:30 p.m. Friday, September 30, at Surf Café, 395 NE Spanish River Blvd., Boca Raton. Tickets cost $5. Call 561-392-1965.
